But if I say I’ll never mention the Lord or speak in his name, his word burns in my heart like a fire.  It’s like a fire in my bones!  I am worn out trying to hold it in!  I can’t do it!

The verse above has been for me what some refer to as a life verse.  God has placed his word within me … and I have a great yearning to pass that on to others.  I have tried in the past to take a seat in the pews and just listen, but I am never content.  I have tried to step out of teaching roles only to become very frustrated very quickly.  I am unable to hold in what God has placed within me.  There are 3 very distinct areas that God has gifted me.

First, he has gifted me to teach his word.  I love Bible study, and I love enable others to understand what they are reading.  I am very passionate about helping others not only KNOW new things in the Bible, but about helping them experience a life change BECAUSE of this new knowledge.  God has gifted me to teach.

Second, he has gifted me to preach his word.  Although I have not been using this one much as of late, when I do get the opportunity, I experience him working through me as I preach.  I enjoy preaching.  God has gifted me to preach.

Finally, he has gifted me to evangelize.  How many Christians do you know who will admit to that?  In the past (just a short time ago) I would say that I was not gifted in evangelism.  I based this on the fact that I did not witness very often (due to fear mostly) and because when I did witness, I rarely saw anyone saying yes to Christ’s invitation.  What I have come to learn is that my disobedience to use the gift does not negate the fact that he has given it to me.  Also, I have come to learn that the results are his concern, not mine.  My job is to simply be obedient with all that he has gifted me with.

While there are other spiritual gifts that I recognize in my life, it is the 3 mentioned above that have prompted me to create this blog.

 And in that spirit … I blog.
